Hola Familia y Amigas,
Thanks mom for
updating my blog. It looks great! I love it a lot and I know that
took a lot of time and effort to do all that! And like you said it will
be really easy to make into a blog book after the mission!!
This this week has
been great!! It has been cold a raining a lot, but I have a lot to be grateful
for, for example:
-A roof that doesn´t
leak (most of the time.)
-That I am not in
Concepción where it rains a lot more
-Or in Chillan or
Parral. Hermana Phelps in Parral can leave her ice-cream on the counter
and it does not melt. Yeah it is at least a little warmer than that here in
Bulnes.
-That I have a happy
companion that laughs and helps me even when it is raining!
-For only having about
a month left of intense winter and then heat and sun till winter 2015!!
Yeah I love hemisphere
changes! haha
So we found a really
good new investigator this past week named Veronica and she lives in a little
neighborhood a little father way called O'Higgins. She is so great. She
did not come to church and we don´t know why yet, but we are going to go visit
it her tomorrow and hopefully find her and help her. I just really have a
lot of faith in her, And I think she will progress! So we are excited about
that!
Second, a miracle
happened. We found a less active member that has been needing help and
has been wanting to come back to church.
And we were looking for this girl named Amber that lead us behind a random building and through a gate and we just kept asking for an Amber we ended up in front of her door and we knocked, she let us in, in a heartbeat(surprised us a little with how welcoming she was). Well I asked if she is Amber once we get in and she said no Karen. Well I was really confused for a moment, and then I was like you must be a member to let us in that easy! And of course she was. She is 23 and has a baby boy, and she is living with the dad of the baby, but they are not married. So we are going to be working with that, but she has had a really hard upbringing, and never had a good experience in the church as a kid. But what I can´t believe is even through all that she has this underlying testimony that the church can help her. And guess who came to church this past week. YEAH KAREN!! It was so great and Yubeniz went by to pick her up and go together! Also Yubeniz brought her Husband and Less Active Brother. YEAH!! And out of the 5 recent converts we have been working with, ALL FIVE were in church this past week!! It was just such a great week and I feel like even though we had a hard week that seeing all them happy in church and feeling the spirit just made my month!!! I love being a missionary!!!

So today we had
another zone activity and went to the Termas de Chillan (ski resort) again.
But this time there was actually snow and the resort was hopping with
people. We found a little area of to the side down the hill from the
resort where we could sled and play around a little bit. It was really fun!! A
few elders hiked up to the area we went to last time, but there was a big sheet
of ice right before, so they didn´t get all the way. But it was so much
fun!!!! I loved it!!! Hermana Howe has a really nice camera, so we took
most of the pictures with her Camera, but I got a few so here they are. Also
just like last time, we had to be in Chillan really early, so we had another
sleepover. YEAH SLEEPOVERS!! It was really fun! We had a lot of
mattresses this time because one of the senior couples just went home, so the
mission is storing all their furniture in the house of the Hermana Leaders,
which is where we stayed. I got the couch!!! Yeah I love COUCHES!!! I think I
was the only one that slept great and warm!
And this next week I
think we are having another zone activity, and we are going to go south to
Yungay to a really cool waterfall!! I am stoked!!!
Oh and for the
challenges/goals of the family:
July: I had 9,468
pesos by the end of the month and that equals about 18 dollars I think right
now. The scale keeps changing!
August: I don´t
know how many pages in English I have read so far but I have read Mosiah 2
through 7. So whatever that is! And I can´t read P-docs so just clue me in on
what is going on sometimes!
Just remember that I
love you and God does as well. And I love the spiritual thought you sent
me Mom. And that is one thing I have learned on the mission. That
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER LOVES US!!! He loves us and he has so much patience
with us in helping us learn. A quote I have found on the mission is,
"God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that
way" -Max L. And we just need to follow his example and love
ourselves, be patient with ourselves, and be thankful for the small success
that we do gain. "Life by the yard is hard, but by an inch it is a
cinch" -Thomas S. Monson
So I love you all and have a
great warm week!!
Con Amor,
Hermana Corbett
