Week 50: Lessons Learned!

9/8/14
Hola Familia y Amigos,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Abby y MAMÁ!!

So I am going to write a few things that are a little more spiritual this week.

Since I have been on the mission I have learned a lot more about the Atonement and that there are a million and one sides to the Atonement,

Here are the three main things that I have learned about the Atonement.
1. It is not only for him to understand me, but so that I can understand others.  I have prayed so many times on my mission for Christ to help me understand someone else.  Especially with my companions.  When I have no idea at all of why they are doing what they are doing, Christ does.  And it has helped me to se others through different eyes and to take on each situation with more understanding and patience.  Patience not only with them but with myself as well.
2. I have learned to understand that the Atonement is not only for those seeking repentance, but also for those that are doing fine and need to be raised higher.  The talk by David A. Bednar in the past conference April 2014 has helped me understand this so much.   It has taught me that I do not only need Christ when I am not doing okay, or when I have sinned or when I have a big challenge in front of me.  It is also for the everyday tasks and to help me keep growing even when I am in easy times. And this has helped me to strengthen my relationship with Christ, so that when the hard times come, I already have the strength and relationship to overcome the hard times much easier.
3. And the last thing I have learned is that the statement "He suffered so that I don't have to" is so true!!  Sad feelings after sin are on purpose to help us feel a desire to do better, but these feelings should leave after one has repented.  He has paid the suffering price of our sins so that we don't have to pay the whole price. Because if we had to pay the whole price it would take way to long and by the end we would not have any more time to get better and we would be useless to him, because we would not be able to help further his work and keep moving forward.  So he being perfect paid the price so that we could repent and move on.  Repent and MOVE ON!  And that is something I am still working on.  To really forgive myself, because when I am focused on the past I can't progress and I can't be any use to him either to help further his work.

I am just so grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow in the gospel, my relationship with Christ and my willingness to follow him more fully every week.  And I am grateful and excited to be able to share what I have felt and learned with my brothers and sisters.  I have seen so many lives change because of this Gospel and because of Jesus Christ.  It is so amazing!! And it is just the best work in the world and the most satisfying feeling in the world.  Doing beats the work of the Lord!!
Love you all and have a great week!!!

Just some random pictures.  The one dog was sleeping in that position.  As missionaries we find joy in the simplest and dumbest of things! ahah  The other do picture is of my favorite dog here in Penco that has an arm twitch and we made a really funny video with this dog and it tells us what direction to go.  It has the twitch and so it looks like it is continually pointing in one direction. haha so funny.  One day you will all get to see it!
