Week 78: Wow it is almost over!!

3-23-15

Familia y Amigos!
SO pretty much we have worked so hard this week and the Lord has blessed us and our area immensely.  We had 4 investigators come to church and it was such a miracle and so great to see them. It was also so hard yesterday to say goodbye all the members that I love so much!!
Although the problem is now that I have focused so much on the work that I have put off everything that I need to do to leave.  At least my bags are packed and in the office already.

Thanks for all that you have all done for me to prepare me to make the decision of serving a mission.  And thanks for all the encouragement and prayers throughout my mission.  I love you all and see you soon!
Con amor,

Hermana Corbett

Week 77: Feelings about the mission.

3-16-15
Hola Familia y Amigos,
So first I got my package and thanks for all the sweets and trunkie pictures and letters!!  i really appreciated it!
So this email is just going to be a little random about all the feelings and thoughts I have been having the past few days.
So first my English is awful!  I was trying to teach my companion English the other day and I could not remember things very well and I realized I taught her a few incorrect things. So bear with me when I get home.
I am sad to be leaving a place that I have literally learned to call home!  I give more directions to Chileans than I ask for directions.  I love the people I have come to know here.  And I have felt their love in return.  It is crazy how much service can bring hearts together and towards Christ.  Not only for people that I know really well, but for people that I met only once or have never even met yet.  But I had a cool experience as I entered the church yesterday.  Two families were there waiting for me that are from my first sector. I had not seen them in over a year!  They stayed for just the first hour.  And then as Church was ending Benjamin and Karen from Penco show up.  I just love these people so much!  And I could not believe they had done that for me!  So it will be hard for me to leave.  But also I have been trying to accept the fact that I am going home and try and just enjoy the time I have left and then when the goodbyes really come then I will let all the tears come out.
On the other hand I am so stoked to be coming home and being able to see all of you soon!! I have missed yall!    I have no clue what I will do the first week, or the second, but I am pretty sure you guys already have that planned.  I love you so much and thanks for all of your prayers.  I am going miss all of the prayers that are said for me every day from people all over the world.
Also this last week we have seen so many miracles and so many new investigators of the church.  We are teaching so many amazing people that want to change their life for Christ.  It is so amazing!  I know that the missionaries here after I am gone are going to have so much success and I am so excited for them and that I can be a part of it!!
Also we went to the beach for my last zone activity!  It was great! And there were more Sea Lions!  So fun but a dog came and attacked me and camera fell in the sand and now won´t open because it has sand in it.  So hopefully I can get that fixed today!  I love you all and that is about it for the week!
Keep Praying for me to finish strong!!
Con muchĂsimo amor,

Hermana Corbett

Week 76: Wow what a week!

3-9-15
Hola Familia y Amigos,
So this week has been crazy!  But I love it!! Even though I am stressed more than ever for all the things that I have to do in the next two weeks. But God will answer my prayers, that I am sure of!

So first Javiera and her family are doing well!  The only problem right now is that Lieslie (Javiera´s mom) is running into a lot of roadblocks so that she can get married...so she can get baptized.  So that has been a struggle, but we have also been working with the lawyers in Santiago that are members, so that things can work faster!   But Javiera is doing great! And the YW Presidency gave here the YW necklace with the flame and the YW in it.  She loved it!

Javier has been a roller coaster ride this week, poor thing.  So as I told you before, he quit his job so that he could get baptized, first off for time and secondly because his boss didn´t want a  Mormon working with him...so yeah he quit.  So he has been without a job and he got a really good job offer about midweek but it would have to make him move to Santiago, so he prayed and the Lord said no and so he said no and he stayed.  Well he is running out of money, but our bishop is helping him to get through it! I am not too worried because I know the Lord will answer all our prayers and he will be able to find a job near here that will work!

Also I found out that Madison is going to be up closer to conce and I will get to see her next week! I talked with her future comp today and we are going to maybe go get lunch next week! Perfect timing right?

Also I am so jealous of Brooke in Bariloche.  That place is all what anyone talks about here.  When they talk about the south or Argentina, Bariloche is mentioned.

Also we got an awesome opportunity today!  Our bishop took us to the boat Huascar.  It is a Peruvian boat that Chile won in a war 150 years ago. The Marines now maintain it and it has a museum in it.  Well every museum is closed in Chile under law, lame right? But since our Bishop works there he gave us a private tour.  Here are a few pictures.  IT WAS SO COOL! But I don´t have time to tell you about it now!  But as we were leaving we went to the pier to take a few pictures and guess what was there.... SEA LIONS!!!! about 3 feet from my face!!!!  I LOVE SEA LIONS!!!  I got a bunch of videos but for some reason only took one foto as we were leaving, so they are far away, but you will be seeing the videos soon.

I love you and keep praying for me and the people I am serving here in Collao.
Con amor,

Hermana Corbett

Week 35: Just kidding...I wish!!! Week 75.

3/2/15
 Hola Familia,
So not much to say this week!  I have been just running around doing missionary work but trying to get better at everything that I still have not perfected.  That has been one hard thing about this last cambio.  I always had this vision during my mission of what kind of missionary I would become.  I always have imagined myself being perfect at almost everything and knowing exactly what everyone needs and being able to convert everyone meet.  Okay maybe I knew I would not be that perfect, but I have realized this week that I still have to much to learn and perfect in myself and it has kind of made me stressed thinking that I have not given enough of done enough because I am not perfect yet.  Well then I had a really bad day and I prayed really hard and I have realized that God knows that I have given my best and that he doesn´t expect me to be perfect at the end of the mission, but I know that he does expect me to take the expereriences that I have learned from the mission and apply them to the real world so that I can keep perfecting myself. He expects me to take my new understanding of the atonement and keep applying that help of Christ to my life and to others. But even though I am not going to be perfect in the next 3 weeks, I am going to try!

One of the young adults Valentina Canobra received her mission call this week.  She is going to Bolivia!
JAVIER WAS BAPTIZED!!! I will tell you all about it when I get home.  He is doing great and has been accompanying us to visit others as well.  He also quit his job so that he could have the time to dedicate himself to the Lord.  He is now looking for a new job where he can have Sundays off.
Today was my last day ever seeing Hermana Lorea. How sad right?  Not much else to say. Love you all and enjoy the pictures.
Oh and mom I have gotten quite a few letters but still no little package.  Letters from Matt, Katelyn, Brooke, Grandma and Grandpa, Abby and Logan's Package.  But that is it so far.  But I am sure it will get here before I leave.
Con Amor,
Hermana Corbett

Week 74: I have a new bad habit apparently...

2-23-15

Hola Familia y Amigos,
So this week has been so crazy!! ¡¡LOCURA!!
So first with the title... apparently I talk in my sleep.  Before it was every once in a while and you could understand me, but now they all here me every night and it is just jiberish.  haha well that is great!  I have no idea why I am talking.  But also my dreams have been pretty weird as well these past few weeks.  Well I guess my roomies will just have to suffer for a few more weeks.  I will try to pray to overcome it.

Also this week we have come to the end of the main part of Summer.  It has been cold these last few days.  It was so weird. One day burning and the next I was freezing. And that leads to the next crazy thing of the week.  Because of the first freezing day my comp got sick because we didn´t take a sweater out with us that day because we didn´t think it would be cold.  Well we were wrong.  She got sick with the flu and was in bed for 2 days straight.  I nursed her back to health and the priesthood blessing probably helped a lot as well.  But we also got lucky and have amazing members here that stayed with her and some came and worked with me. One was a return missionary and was so excited to be like a real missionary again. Just me and her working.  And the other was a young adult and she has a sister on a mission and so it was cool for her to feel like a missionary like her sister.  It  was all in all a great experience.  But a very exhausting one as well!

Also on Thursday I think it was, we had like 4 big fires here in ConcĂ©. The sun was RED!!  Not orange but RED!! It was so crazy and I felt like I was suffocating a little bit, but the air has cleared up since then.

Also funny story. The other day we visited a little old  lady in the ward and she said she was so tired because she had been cleaning all day and fixing up her garden. So we told her we were going to come on Saturday and help her clean.  She said great! Well we get there and EVERYTHING WAS ALREADY CLEAN!!  We were shocked and asked what we could do and she said.  "Just sit and rest because I woke up early to clean everything so you both wouldn´t have to.  You guys work so much, so just rest."  And I was like " Hermana we are missionaries, we don´t rest."  And after talking a little bit we finally got her to let us help clean  a little more in depth in  her garden.  They just love us so much here!!
Yep I love being a missionary!!
Pray for Javier who is going to be baptized on Saturday!  I love you guys and keep looking up!  God wants to help you in EVERYTHING!!  Also I really hope there is at least one snow storm after I get home! I miss the snow so much!!
Love you all and have a great week!!
Con amor,
Hermana Corbett

Week 73: Javiera Was BAPTIZED!!!!!!

2-16-15
Wow I can´t believe this past week like everything has happened!!!
I thought I would have less to say as I got to the end of my mission, but every week still throws me a surprise.
First off that is so weird that we are moving to Utah still.  It kinda set in when I saw the pictures of the house.

Everyone in my ward now knows that I am going home real soon because when Hermana Quintana introduced herself in church she told everyone that she has less than 3 months left and still has one cambio more than me.  So yeah everyone was talking about that in Church.

Thanks Logan, Abby, Hudson, and Amelia for the birthday package.  I needed it a lot today!!

Also Hermana Glazier has been here this past week with her parents visiting all her sectors and it was so cool to see them. It made me sad that I said no to you guys coming down to get me, but also I know that we will come back in a few years and we will be able to do so much more and have a blast!

So the rest of my birthday was great!  In the night we went over to Javieras house with her family.  They are so great and made me tacos.  I have been craving tacos.  But the tacos here, are so much better than back home, sorry mom.  I will have to make us some one night.  And talking about Javiera...

Also the baptism of Javiera was so amazing.  The most well attended baptism I have been to on the mission. And also the most spiritual baptism i have attended!  She has been preparing for so long and so that preparation and time made that day even that much more special.  I love her and her family.  And I can´t wait to see how they progress even more.  I know that they will achieve being sealed in the temple.  And also eternal life!!  Enjoy the pictures.

Also so the new news is that we have another investigator named Javier (The Irony) he is about 35 years old. And he is from Santiago and was going to church their with his friends for a year, but could not get baptized because he was attending a ward where he didn´t live.  But he moved here a few months ago, but never went to church because he was afraid to just show up.  Well we found him and are teaching him and he will be baptized the 28th of February.  He is such a boss and actually just called us a few minutes ago to see if we could visit him tonight before he heads out of town for work.  He also went to Javiera´s Baptism and Church in our ward on Sunday! He is so amazing!!

Well her are a few pictures as well! I love you all!
Oh and I got to see Madison again!! She came and visited me in my sector.  Don´t know how we pulled that one off...haha
Con Amor,
Hermana Corbett
